Procrastinating...

instead of writing/preparing the CSMP 2008. (children's sacrament meeting presentation)

it feels like a term paper looming over my head. it's been a long time since i've experienced those feelings. starting is always the hardest part for me. i could use some encouragement. just please don't say, "you're just starting."

Hmmmmm.....what could I say to make you feel better? It will be over soon? Think of those darn-cute kids? Use your wonderful talents to bless others? Take your pick. The following is what happens to me: Put it off, I don't know how to do it, where do I start, yuck how could it be enjoyable, fine I'll start, whoa this is loads of fun, I wish I had more time...you get the picture. Think of it, your life could be worse, you could be a beaver. Just remember you can't know Joy without Misery!

I don't envy that big job you've got. In one ward they used the talks the kids gave throughout the year. I never start at the beginning. I start in the middle or I know how I want to finish. That's how I write papers, learn music, and just about anything else if I can get away with it. Good luck and God Bless!

All I can say is get it done and make it amazing and then send it to me, I am afraid I will need it, more on that later.....(the primary program is always fabulous no matter what, the kids make it and everyone thinks it is the best program ever, so quit stressing about it)

I haven't started yet, if that's any comfort! I usually have the kids write most of it (guided with a question or topic)... good luck. Did you know that when I was a kid the program was written by the General Primary Presidency and the ward leaders just assigned parts! Now at least we get to gear it to OUR kids and primary... but it IS more work! You'll do great!

Don't worry! I won't say what you know I might! To tell you the truth I am a little nervous. What if your program makes my last couple of programs look like crud! You'll do awesome. Just think, all the people want is to see all those funny cute little kids up there. As long as no one barfs on you in the middle of the thing you can count it a success! Good luck!

Just make an outline and let the kids write as much as possible...I love to hear what the kids have to say about what they've learned this year and then it's a lot less work for you (for now!)

Our program is next Sunday. I was supposed to write it but our chorister is so amazing that she came up with almost everything. I love her for that. If you get desperate I could have her email me it. It is really good -I think!!

Hey procrastinate it all the way and have one of your counselors write it. Or to be fair, invite both your counselors over and write it together.

If you are having trouble starting I recommend just setting the timer for a given amount of time and working fast and quickly within the time you set for yourself, finish in the first day. Then revisit it for two or three days after you have finished it and look it over and make changes. The goal is finish it then make changes as you stew over it for a few days!

Good Luck!

Well you could just go to Sugardoodle and twist and turn the ones posted on there into your own. However I know you said not to but, I'm feeling the same way. Just make it more personal then just sentences read. Really have it come from the kids and there experiences in there life. Good luck.

Hi Cheryl
It's Suzy James. You were one of the first people I added to my blog because you were on Alys. I dont think I ever told you about mine though. Go to noelanijames.blogspot.com and check out whats going on with the James. We are back in Maui now. We were in CO for about 4 1/2 years and have been here for a year. Where are you guys? Your boys are so cute. We both have 3 now. Remember ELizabeth and Ethan? They are 9 and 7 and I have a 3 year old-Ella. We still want more just not quite yet. Well I would love to hear from you. As far as the Sacrament primary presentation, I am sure you will get it together fabulously! Suzy:0)
