allergy baby

the real asher

we think it's a dairy allergy. he won't drink cow's milk but it seems to be from yogurt (i've been feeding him plain, greek yogurt). we're still experimenting. this was the worst of it though. he's had sporadic breakouts since this picture but nothing like this. crazy, huh?!!

Hate allergies.

I remember being tested as a kid - stuck with a kajillion needles testing blood... but finding out what it is such a relief. Knowledge is power.

Hopefully you will figure it out soon.

Rosa also has dairy allergies. We switched to soy formula (9- 36 months)which really helped and then went off all dairy and whey for a whole month. That part was hard but it helped us narrow down her issues. She no longer has breakouts but she can and will eat regular milk with cereal these days but not for any other reason. sorry to hear about the allergies. Such a pain. Good luck figuring it all out.

I'm just catching up with your blog and have to tell you that I Loooove your family pictures! You guys are quite photogenic. And I like the bangs. And I like meatball sandwiches so I'm going to try yours.

both my girls had this same reaction to anything milk. their little faces would do the same thing with one sip of milk.
eventually they both grew out of it. they were both soy babies after breast milk for a long time.

okay of what i remember (so sad how you forget so much)... lily had her first sip of milk on her 1st b-day and hated it and broke out with a rash all over her face instantly. so i went out and got soy milk and it was fine. she liked it and no rash. i was a little unsure how much soy milk to give her... so she also drank a lot of orange juice fortified with vitamin d and calcium. which is why we drink milk i think. she also ate soy yogurt. milk yogurt would give her a rash as well. and so would ice cream. taylor was the same way. she had soy formula and then soy milk.
they both grew out of it by the time taylor was 2 or 2.5. it may have been earlier but i went and got them tested and it seemed to be gone. they also stopped having rashes or reactions to regular milk and yogurt. i got them tested just to make sure it wasn't hurting their insides... if maybe they were still be affected by it without visible signs like a rash.
still now they don't really like regular milk though.
luke never had the allergic reaction. i assumed all of my kids were going to.
well i hope that helps. poor little guy.

poor Asher.
I was waiting for my kids to have some type of allergy, since Cory was so bad as a kid, but luckily they haven't had a problem...so far!

It is no fun seeing your babies with big rashes because you want them to have their beautiful baby skin! X is sensitive to pudding, yogurt, ice cream, and cow's milk so we give him almond milk and tofutti ice cream (at Tj's or grocery stores) and it keeps the rashes at bay. How old do they have to be to get tested for allergies? Best of luck!
