The Candy Fairy...

she visited our house last night.
jaden left her a note
beside all of his halloween candy
(of course there has to be a note, as jaden pointed out, so she doesn't just take anyone's stash)
and viola!, it was all gone this morning with cold hard cash in its place!!
thank you ixchelle for the great idea.
(forgot to include that earlier)
I asked jaden what he thought the candy fairy did with all the candy: "gives it to children who didn't get any."
hmmm...yes. she'll deliver it to his grandma kip in south africa and she can see to it that it finds a good home.
(although after he enthusiastically runs into my bedroom this morning to show me that "she'd" already come" and what she'd left him,
he says, "but you guys really did this because there's no such thing as fairies." we've never talked specifically about the fairies, santa or the easter bunny but we have about spiderman and other super heroes.
interesting how intuitive they are.)

micah couldn't get over how much "good" candy people give out these days.

looks nothing like what we used to get--mini candy bars sure beat smarties.

Tis true - people are more generous now days. We couldn't believe the candy haul our two boys made. I love the idea about the fairy. About how much money did you have to pay them to make it worth it for them?!?

well, we told him she'd leave him $3-$4 and he went for it. But micah's more generous and we wanted him to have enough to get something worthwhile with it (oh and she told him in her note that she left a little extra because his birthday is next week but he's supposed to keep that a secret)so he ended up with $8. I was leaning more toward $5.

What a cool idea. That's a much better way of getting rid of the candy than what I did (Sunday morning we were still trying to sleep but of course Mitch was ready to be awake, so when he wouldn't let us sleep I told him I was throwing the candy away, and he still kept making a ruckus, so into the trash can it went). I'm still missing the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups but I guess it's for my own good too. :)

What a great idea. I pulled out LOTS of the good stuff and am saving it for stocking stuffers and have been tossing a little everyday and have wondered what to do with the rest. I tried telling them they could have 3 a day, they are too little for that. But this, they would like. Thanks for the great idea. PS...i finally posted again.

We didn't get good candy like that dangit! Thats the kind I always buy for us to give out inhope that there will be leftovers. We got pleanty of smarties and dum-dums and pixie sticks. Yuck! I want chocolate (not that I can have any while I am nursing)
I did chuckle to myself at the island princess comment. I knew a mother of boys would be all to unfamiliar with the barbie world:)

What a great idea! I bet the candy fairy and the tooth fairy have a little thing going on together! THAT stash does look good too!

A dentist here in town gave $1 a pound for candy. My kids got $8 for theirs. The candy fairy paid them $2 for their trunk-or treat candy. I like the idea.

Can I be the candy fairy next year?

You gave up all that yummy candy? Can we do that with the yucky tootsie rolls?

You always have such great parenting insight(and I guess a very creative sister). I threw all the kids candy away on Sunday- this would have been so much more fun. There wasn't that much- they missed trunk or treat and we only went up ONE street, but still. I'll remember the candy fairy for next year.

Hey...Help a brother out and have the Candy Fairy send some of that sweetness my way. Believe it or not Trick or Treating is prohibited on Sanibel Island. Leave it to crusty old Floridians to come up with that law. We helped Sara's boss, Sallie put on a party for the kids at the community center. Unfortunately, my head wound costume did not go over very well and I missed all the candy while at home washing my make up off. Should I be embarrassed being disappointed about not getting enough Halloween candy at age 33?
