Winner, Winner, Winner

thanks to everyone who participated in the see's candies fundraiser for jaden's school. and thanks dad for spreading the word for us.
we found out today that for every ten items sold, his name was entered into a drawing for a limousine ride from school to mcdonalds for lunch and his name was drawn! it was funny how excited this news made me. i think because i don't recall ever winning anything, his little victory was thrilling. jaden was a bit worried about the ride though. afraid the long limo might not be able to make the turn into the micky d's parking lot. funny kid.

i think he's one of the lucky ones (this isn't his first). i think you're either lucky or not. i'm not. jenny IS. here are some of her lucky moments:
  • limo ride to breakfast and then dropped off at school on the first day of jr. high (maybe that's not so lucky)
  • trip to universal studios including air fare and cash
  • inheritance (that's lucky).
  • once we were taking turns calling a radio station to win a prize and she won! don't remember what
  • i know she's won a couple of BIG trips, too
and i know there's more but i can't think of them. help me out jen.

are YOU one of the lucky ones, too? please share your victories with us.

I would say I'm neither lucky nor unlucky.
BUT, I had one golden moment in third grade:
We had just finished reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and we had an opportunity to buy "Wonka Bars" for a chance to win a golden ticket. I bought three, the maximum amount.
I stood in front of the entire third grade opening each bar in turn. I slowly opened my first- no ticket. My turn for the second came-no ticket. My third and final turn- I stood there full of anxiety as I slowly took off the outer wrapper and then I saw the gold! I had won a golden ticket! I then knew eXACTly how Charlie felt in the story. It was glorious!
I got special treatment for an entire week. I relished it!

Way to go Jaden!
I used to be pretty lucky. In Elementary School I was at the skating rink & can't remember what I did to win, but they had this huge glass jar of money (coins & bills). I got to put my hand in & pull out as much money as I could. I thought I was so rich!!
I think my sophomore year of HS I called in on the radio & won tickets & back stage passes to a "They Might Be Giants" concert. So fun! I know I have won other things, but can't think of them right now.

No luck here! We do love to play this "pretend " game of What if we won the lotto... what would we do. Then Shawn reminds me that we would need to play the lotto to actually win! Fun to think of the possibilities. This year if we didn't have bad luck we would have no luck at all!!

I think the most memorable, and possibly the ONLY thing I have ever won was last year at the Marina Library I won a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. This was great because that meant I didn't have to wait all night at Borders to get the one I'd reserved, I could get my sleep, go to the library at 10 that morning, get my copy for FREE, and start reading with a full-night's sleep behind me. Yea, Brent and I had it done in about 12 hours (the two of us were reading the same copy at the same time. We had quite the page-turning system worked out). It was awesome.

The only time I had a streak of good luck was with this last pregnancy. I went to 5 different babyshowers and I won A LOT of the games. Never happened to me before. The prizes weren't big and the stakes weren't high, but I had never been a prize winner before. Haven't been to any lately to see if my luck is still holding out post pregnancy. Jaden is pretty lucky, I have never been in a limo!

Hey how are you guys. I found your blog on Kim Simpson's blog, Your family is growing and they are too cute! I won a Home gym and a treadmill on the radio a couple of years ago, that was the first and last thing I've ever won. Jaden Must have been excited, I know my kids would have been.
